Ever had one of those days where everything seems to be going to shit? It might be that you wee constantly running late, forgot your purse whilst out shopping or are were just plain having a crappy day.

 

Trust me, your not alone.

 

Last week I was having one of those days. It didn’t matter what I did, I just couldn’t shake that irritable mood that had been building after a day of stress-inducing moments. I was officially pissed off and angry, but I really didn’t want to take that feeling home to Brad and the boys, so instead, I thought I’d try a bit of release, reflect and reset.

 

Release, reflect and reset is a technique I’ve been using with my patients for quite a while now. It’s a really simple to use 3 step process designed to help you release any negative emotions and refocus on how you really want to feel. This quick and easy process can help turn your day from crap to awesome so that you can get on with your day feeling like the confident badass you are!

 

So why not give it a try yourself and see just how awesome the release, reflect and recharge technique truly is!

 

1. Release

 

The first step is to release any negativity that you may be holding on too. Let go of all those crappy things that have pissed you off. You know, all those should have’s, grumbles and angry vibes that may be pulling you down and making you feel like shit.

 

You need to release these feelings, even when it seems to damn hard because negativity grows; and it will just keep growing if you feed it with attention. So the more you hold on to those thoughts and feelings of anger and negativity, the more you’ll experience it and ain’t nobody got time for that shit! This is about you feeling happier, so make a commitment to your own wellbeing by reminding yourself that it’s not worth holding on to any crappy negative feelings and release all that crappy negative feelings

2. Reflect

 

The next step is to reflect on why your felt the way you did. Now reflection isn’t about spending hours analysing all the bad stuff that happened in your day, it’s a super quick 1-2 minutes to reflect back and see if there’s any way you can take the crappy experiences and see them instead as a learning opportunity to grow further.

 

When you change the way you look at a negative situation, it removes the power and intensity it has over you. Which is awesome because how can something that is really just making better badass be that scary? Remeber the whole point of step two in this process, reflect, is to turn a crap into glitter, by seeing it as something you can learn and grow from!

 

3. Reset

 

The final step is to reset so your ready to move on with your day. To reset, I want you to set a positive intention for how you want to feel moving forward. The emphasis here is on how you want to feel.

 

Let’s take the example of losing your car keys. It’s irritating and pretty damn inconvenient, so your likely to feel annoyed and perhaps even a find a little anger begins to build. Once you find the keys, those crappy negative feelings often continue. You might feel unsettled and rushed and begin to get a little moody.

 

Using the release, reflect and reset technique you can help change your mood in just a few minutes.

 

So you might take a deep breath and release the anger your feeling about the keys, reminding yourself that sometimes shit happens, is it really worth getting upset over? This simple act of putting what happened into perspective can often be enough to instantly change your mood!

 

Next, you would reflect on the incident and perhaps think of ways you could make sure you didn’t misplace your keys again in the future. Finally, you would reset you mood by setting an intention for how you want to feel. So you might say ‘from this point on I am going to be my happy, confident badass self’ Take a few nice deep breaths, inhaling in those confident, feeling good vibes and exhaling out the bullshit, smile and go about your day feeling much more aligned and relaxed.

I guarantee that once you’ve used this technique a couple of times you’ll begin to really notice a difference with how easy it is to shift your mood. You just need to take a few minutes to release, reflect and reset! Let me know what you think in the comments below and remember…
